Preserving for Christmas at Fonmon Castle.
Date: Sunday 16 November 2014, Time: 10:00 to 15:00
Where better to learn the centuries old art of jam making and preservation than in an 800 year old castle, on our unique and exclusive ‘Preserving for Christmas’ adventure.
You will learn how to make some tasty jams and chutneys that you can give as personal gifts for Christmas, or even keep for yourself. Who better to teach you than Angharad Underwood, founder of the multi award-winning The Preservation Society. The Preservation Society produces fantastic chutneys, sirops and preserves, all packed with flavour & made in small batches at Angharad’s home in Chepstow.
Not only will world class preserver, Angharad teach you how to make at least 3 different jams and chutneys in our hands on, interactive class but, you will also take home the fruits of your labours!
Our class takes place at stunning Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. Built in 1180 and set in three acres of beautiful gardens, Fonmon Castle has been owned by only two families in its 800 year history.
On arrival you will be offered coffee or tea with homemade biscuits before heading to the kitchens for the class with Angharad. After the class, we have arranged for you to have a private tour of the castle followed by a beautiful lunch, featuring produce from the garden and near locality.
After lunch, before packing up your Christmas goodies, enjoy a stroll in the walled garden and discover all of its secret delights.
