Farm Visit: Discover Ethical Rose Veal: Farm Visit and Cooking Demo 9th May 2015
One reason Food Adventure do the tour is to educate people about veal.
In the dairy industry bulls are shot at birth. In the past when reared for veal, they were crated in isolation and the meat was typically white. These caskves are allowed to socialise and have space. In good weather they can go into the fields. In bad weather they have nice barn space.
Check out the Marcross Farm link and have a browse throughout their website. Also just google British rose veal. www.marcrossfarm.com
About The Food Adventure
Join us on a fun visit to Marcross Farm, a fourth generation dairy farm on the picturesque coast of the Vale of Glamorgan. Owned by the Evans family, the farm boasts an impressive Holstein Friesian dairy herd.
We will meet brother and sister Hopkin and Louise Evans and enjoy a tour of a working farm with magnificent views of the coast line. On our tour of the farm, we’ll be learning about modern dairy farming, ethically reared rose veal and why rose veal should be on our plates
Following the tour, we’ll be off to the Welsh Sustainable Restaurant of the Year, The Gallery. Chef Patron Barnaby Hibbert will delight you with a cooking demonstration and serve you a delectable three course lunch featuring veal.
If you’re interested in coming along, our journey will begin at 10:00 a.m. at The Gallery, where we’ll start the day off with a cup of coffee or tea and a home made cake. Feeling refreshed, we’ll board the minibus and head to Marcross Farm.
